Importing a General Ledger (GL) chart works the same way as other imports in the system.
Key Rules
- Existing GL IDs: If you import a GL ID that already exists, its details will be overwritten.
- New GL IDs: If you import a GL ID that does not exist, the system will create a new GL account.
Special GL Types
There are two GL functions that can only have one account each:
- Retained Earnings
- Current Earnings
If your license already contains a GL ID of one of these types and you attempt to import another GL ID with the same type, you will receive a Not Unique error.
To Resolve
Ensure there is only one of each GL Function for those special GL Types, and re-import.

For most imports in Infusion, the Export file is the template for the Import. Not all columns are required.
