    Multi-Currency Overview

The Multi-Currency feature is planned for release in Version 94, with release currently targeted for the second week of November.

We encourage all users to log on to the Demo Server and test the new functionality prior to release. Your feedback will help us identify any issues, validate workflows, and ensure the feature meets business requirements before it is deployed to production.

Multi-Currency in Infusion is primarily designed to support International Purchasing. Rather than providing multi-currency functionality across all modules, foreign currency processing is focused on supplier purchasing workflows and related payment transactions.

Foreign currency amounts, exchange rates, and associated General Ledger postings are integrated into the purchasing lifecycle, from creating a Purchase Order through to Supplier Payment and foreign exchange gain or loss recognition.

    Main Areas Where Multi-Currency Applies

The following areas support Multi-Currency processing:

    Area

    Description

Cashbook Payment  Supports foreign currency payments associated with international supplier transactions.
Supplier Adjustment  Supports adjustments against foreign currency supplier transactions.
Supplier Purchase Order  Supports foreign currency purchase orders, including document currency and exchange rates.
Product Receipts  Supports receipt processing against foreign currency purchase orders.
Supplier Invoices  Supports foreign currency supplier invoices, exchange rates, and foreign exchange gain/loss calculations.
Supplier Payments  Supports payments and allocations against foreign currency supplier invoices and adjustments.

    International Purchasing Workflow

These functions work together to support the international purchasing process:

    1. Create a Purchase Order in a foreign currency.
    2. Receive goods against the Purchase Order.
    3. Enter the Supplier Invoice.
    4. Process any required Supplier Adjustments.
    5. Make payment through Supplier Payments
    6. Recognise any realised or unrealised foreign exchange gains or losses through the configured General Ledger accounts.

    Supplier Payments in Advance Workflow

The Multi-Currency process also supports supplier payments made before an invoice is received. This workflow is commonly used for international purchases where suppliers require full or partial payment before goods are shipped.

When the supplier invoice is later entered and allocated against the prepayment, any exchange rate differences between the payment date and invoice date will be recognised through the configured foreign exchange gain or loss accounts

    Known Issues and Limitations

    Supplier Remittance

Supplier Remittance Advice currently displays payment amounts in the licensee's local currency only and does not show the original foreign currency values.

Planned Enhancement: Support for displaying foreign currency information on Supplier Remittance Advice is planned for a future release.

    Recurring Invoices with Forward Cover

If the first occurrence of a recurring foreign currency supplier invoice is created while a forward cover exchange rate is active, future invoices in the series may continue to use that same forward cover rate.

This can occur even when the invoice date of a later occurrence falls after the forward cover period has ended. As a result, the exchange rate applied may not reflect the current rate that would normally be selected for that invoice date.

Workaround: Review the exchange rate on each generated occurrence and update it manually if a different rate is required.

    Enquiry Screens

Some enquiry screens and reports do not currently display all foreign currency information, such as the original currency amount, currency code, or exchange rate used for the transaction. Where additional currency details are required, open the source transaction.

    External API Multi-Currency Support

Multi-Currency fields are not currently supported through the External API.

As a result, Purchase Orders cannot be created via the External API when Multi-Currency functionality is require, the following error might be displayed

Impact: Third-party integrations and custom applications may not be able to create, retrieve, or process Multi-Currency transactions accurately using the current External API.

    Supplier Import and International Suppliers

When importing suppliers, you can assign a default currency to a supplier even if they have not been configured as an International Supplier.

This means the supplier may appear to be set up for Multi-Currency, but foreign currency purchasing and supplier transactions will not be available until the supplier is marked as an International Supplier.

    What this means for you:

A currency can be imported and displayed against the supplier.
The supplier cannot be used for foreign currency transactions until International Supplier is enabled.
The International Supplier setting cannot currently be updated through the import process.

What to do: After importing the supplier, open the supplier record and manually enable International Supplier before using the supplier for Multi-Currency purchasing, invoicing, or payments.

NOTE: The Supplier will continue to trade as a local currency supplier with no downside.

    Multi Currency List views

Enable the foreign currency amount columns in the Supplier Invoice and Supplier Payment list views to view both the transaction currency values and local currency values during reconciliation.
