    Multi-Currency Supplier Payments

Payments can be made in Foreign Currency for International Suppliers.

Payment amounts and allocations are entered in the foreign currency, while the corresponding local currency values are used for Bank Transactions, Supplier Control updates, and General Ledger postings.

When a payment is made in a foreign currency, additional currency information is displayed on the payment header

During Payment the exchange rate difference will be recoined to the Realised gain and loss GL

Partial Payments of Foreign Currency Invoice

When partial payments are made against a foreign currency invoice and the payment exchange rate differs from the invoice exchange rate, only the portion of the unrealised foreign exchange gain or loss relating to the amount paid is recognised as a realised gain or loss.

Any unrealised gain or loss relating to the remaining unpaid balance stays unrealised until further payments are made or the invoice is fully settled.

Why does the remaining balance appear different after a partial payment?

When a foreign currency invoice is partially paid, the remaining balance shown on subsequent payments is calculated using the exchange rate applicable to the current payment, which may differ from the exchange rate used for previous payments.

Because exchange rates can change over time, the remaining balance may appear different from what you expect based on the original invoice or earlier payments. This is normal and ensures that foreign exchange gains or losses are calculated correctly.

Only the portion of the invoice that has been paid will have its associated unrealised gain or loss converted to a realised gain or loss. The unrealised gain or loss relating to the unpaid portion of the invoice remains outstanding until it is settled.
