Assign a Cost Centre to a Product Location

Cost Centres are tied to a products location. When Cost Centres are first activated, all Product Locations are assigned to the default Cost Centre. Each Product Location can be assigned to a previously created Cost Centre, and multiple Product Locations can be assigned to a single Cost Centre.

To assign a Cost Centre to a Product Location.

Navigate to the Settings module and select Product Locations under the Products heading. Open the Product Location and choose Edit.

Use the Cost Centre drop down to assign the Cost Centre to that location.

When you change the Cost Centre and select Save a warning confirmation message appears:

This message is designed to alert users to the change in Cost Centres. Changing Cost Centres at a location transfers the costs of the products at that location to the new Cost Centre using a product transfer in the background.

Choose Confirm to confirm that the new Cost Centre is correct and complete assigning the new Cost Centre to the Product Location. This allows the inventory valuation to adjust to the code the costs for opening and closing stock values to the correct Cost Centre.
