What is Smart Grid?
Smart Grid is a modern list view that lets you control how data is shown and work with it more efficiently. You can choose which columns to see, reorder them, filter and sort the list, and export the data you need.
Key features of Smart Grid
- Column Visibility: Turn columns on or off so you see only the information you need.
- Column Reordering: Drag column headers to change the order of columns.
- Column Sorting: Sort by one or more columns; sort order is kept while you work.
- Saving Views: Your column choices are remembered for next time.
- CSV Export: Export the current list (with your filters and visible columns) to a CSV file.
- Infinite Scrolling: Scroll through up to 1000 records without needing pagination.
- Inline Editing: Edit certain fields directly in the grid without opening a separate form
Choosing which columns to show or hide
Open the list, use the column‑visibility icon in the grid toolbar to turn columns on or off, and your selections will automatically be saved to your user account for next time.

Tip: Hide columns you do not need for your current task to make the list easier to scan.
Reordering columns
Click and hold the column header, drag it to the new position, and release to drop it there

Tip: Put the most important columns (e.g. name, code, status) near the left so you see them first.
Sorting
Click a column header to sort it (toggling direction with each click), and your chosen sort order will usually persist while filtering, showing or hiding columns, or exporting

Exporting to CSV
Set up the list with your preferred columns, filters, and sort, then use the Export/CSV action in the grid toolbar to download a file containing only the visible columns and currently listed rows, which you can then open or save in Excel or another tool.

Tip: Before exporting, hide columns you do not need - they will not appear in the CSV.
Infinite Scrolling
Smart Grid loads more records automatically as you scroll, up to a maximum of 1000 rows. This lets you browse large lists smoothly without clicking through pages.
Icons on Grid
- Inline‑edit indicators: A pencil icon appears on fields that support inline editing.
- Status icons (e.g., active, inactive, warning, attachment): These icons are displayed in their own dedicated columns
- Action icons (edit, more options, information): These appear at the end of each row for quick access to actions.

Filtering
Use the filter panel or column‑level filters (where available) to narrow the list to the records you need. Filters work together with sorting, column visibility, and export, so your filtered view is always reflected in the data you export.

Inline editing
Inline editing lets you update supported fields directly within the grid; when a field can be edited, a pencil icon appears when you hover over the cell.
- Click into an editable cell to activate edit mode.
- Make your changes and press enter once the record is updated
- Validation rules apply immediately to ensure data accuracy.

Common Questions
Will my column preferences be saved?
Yes. Your choice of visible columns is saved per list and per user, so when you open the same list again you will see your last setup.
Why do I not see the column menu or export button?
Some lists may not be using the smart grid functionality. If you expect a feature and do not see it, first check the release notes as it will have details regarding the grids which have smart grid feature available during a particular release.
Does this work with my existing data?
Yes. Smart Grid list views use the same data as before; only the way the list is displayed and controlled has changed.
